Privacy Policy
Last Updated: November 2025
This Privacy Policy describes how Foody Friend (“the Product”) handles information when users interact with it. The Product complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
1. Product Overview
Foody Friend is a lightweight tool designed to help users manage the food items in their refrigerator. It tracks expiration dates and sends timely reminders through Google Calendar.
To perform these functions, the Product uses the following Google APIs:
- Google Sheets API — to create, read, and update food inventory spreadsheets in the user’s Google Drive.
- Google Drive API (drive.file, app-created files only) — to securely store app-created spreadsheets within the user’s Drive space.
- Google Calendar API (calendar.events) — to create calendar events reminding users to use food items before they expire.
2. Data Handling Principles
Foody Friend is designed under the principles of data minimization and local processing, ensuring user data privacy and security.
- The Product does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information.
- The Product does not access or read any of the user’s existing Google Drive files or Calendar events. Only files and events created by the Product, after user consent, are accessed.
- All processing and data handling occur locally on the user’s device. No data is transferred to or stored on the developer’s or any third-party server.
- All files and events created by the Product are stored entirely within the user’s own Google account, and users retain full ownership and control, including deletion rights.
3. Authorization Scope
When using the Product, users grant explicit permission through Google OAuth for the following limited scopes:
- https://www.googleapis.com/auth/spreadsheets — to create and update food management spreadsheets.
- https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file — to access and manage only files created by this Product.
- https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.events — to create expiration reminders in Google Calendar.
The Product does not use or share any Google user data for advertising, analytics, profiling, or any unrelated purpose.
4. Data Storage and Security
- The Product does not store any user data on developer-managed servers.
- All user data remains under Google’s secure cloud infrastructure, within the user’s account.
- All communications with Google APIs occur over encrypted HTTPS connections.
- The Product does not include any third-party trackers, ad networks, or analytics tools.
5. User Control
Users retain complete control over their data and permissions. They can:
- Revoke Foody Friend’s access anytime at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions;
- Delete any spreadsheets directly from Google Drive;
- Delete any calendar events created by the Product in Google Calendar.
Once access is revoked, the Product will no longer be able to view or modify any Google data.
6. Children’s Privacy
Foody Friend is not intended for use by children under 13 years old, and it does not knowingly collect or process any information from minors.
7. Policy Updates
This Privacy Policy may be updated periodically. The most recent version will always be available on this page, with the effective date indicated at the top. Any material changes will be clearly communicated to users.
